Oaxaca is one of those places where human craft and its relationship with nature are part of everyday life. Tortillas are made on the spot before your eyes, grasshoppers are a popular snack, and you can smell cacao being ground in the market for hot chocolate.
On my last trip, I had the opportunity to visit artist Pantaleón Ruiz, who works with natural pigments, and invited me to explore at his studio.
I made these pieces in his backyard using “azúl añil” and “grana”.
